It certainly would. That little arm is what prevents the rear brake caliper bracket from rotating forward when you apply the rear brake. Without that little collar in there, you've got free play against the bolt (part 14), and it's eventually going to do damage to that bolt, if it hasn't already.

Here is the collar:

Here's the collar inserted, and the bolt that fits through it:

Here it is buttoned up and installed:

If you can't find a replacement collar, I would use a set of calipers to measure the inside diameter of the caliper bracket and the outside diameter of the bolt, and see if you can find something at a hardware store that would fit.

I recently lost that cottor pin and bolt and nut and collar, I was calling it a bushing, I'm always calling things by there wrong name, anyhow they look the same to me... Virgilmobile is sending me a replacement but in the mean time I made my own collar, that's right I made one, I used a 8mm socket to fit the hole nicely and drilled a hole thru it to fit the bolt size the cut the length down, this is only until I get the correct parts, I drilled a hole in the bolt behind the nut for a cotter pin, Thank's Virgil, I couldn't find that parts diagram to save my soul..

Nah, I'd call it a bushing as well, but when I pulled it up in my parts catalog it called it a collar. Who knows? :)

Good idea with the socket - it likely won't be hard enough to resist wear for very long (hopefully you greased it up well), but as a temporary stopgap it should work great.

The only problem I've found with the particle transmitters is that there are'nt enough people with recievers on the other end! If ya transmit without the reciever, the stuff just floats out there. The first one to get a reciever is gonna get a bunch of free stuff!

You might want to check the temperature ranges of the moly paste you used - the grease I used in those pictures is high-temperature grease, specifically because those brake parts can get pretty hot in use.

I got one of them "receivers",hooked it up and I can see the stuff but I cant get my fingers all the way around it.There's some kind of event horizon or force field there.Maybe it's a pay per grab feature.I'll check with the cable company about that. :D
