identifying which model of GL 1100

Postby t-bar12 » Mon Oct 03, 2011 11:42 am

I purchased my GL 1100 a few months back. It appears previously owners took parts from several models - and I'm not sure how to identify which year and model I have. The numbers on the frame are: SC02-2200513. But other parts of the bike appear earlier or later. Can anyone help me identify for sure what year and model (Aspencade, Interstate, or ???) it is? Thanks!
(I need to know this to start looking for parts.)

Well, lets think..The aspy has a digital spedo so it would also have to have a electronic spedo unit attached to the left fork.See if it's got a cable or wires.
If its' got a cable, then it's a interstate or a naked. As I recall, the naked spedo went to 140mph and the interstate goes to 85mph.The interstate would also have a plug on the left side in front of the tank for the faring.

I may be wrong(yes it has happened once)the frame is the same on all 3,so one could(with enough parts)be made into whatever one you desire.

Anything is possible sense the Venisons invented MONEY.

On the steering neck of the frame, left side there is an ID plate . This will have the model, year, and VIN number, not always easy to read or even see but it has all the info you want. This will tell you what the model was when it left the factory.

How about a picture or two?we like pictures
