1100 goldwing oil strainer

Postby baz66 » Thu Oct 06, 2011 9:42 am

hi all. on goldwing 1100 the oil strainer pick up in the sump could any one tell me when refitting the strainer back in side of engine does it need a o ring seal on the strainer itself mine came out without one looked in a (haynes) manual does not show one on it. when putting in position it seems like it could do with one to pack it tight against the cover plate as it seems to be slightly loose fitting. thanks

There is a gasket on the cover itself, but not on the strainer. Perhaps a fail-safe in case the strainer screen became blocked?

I went to Lowes, and got shorter bolts. The one next to the frame was not easy to take out, but much easier to put back. And, the screen was clean, so I would not have had to do it. Good luck...........
