Clarion radio knob removal

Postby Pappy Wilson » Tue Dec 08, 2009 11:22 am

I just got an 81 Goldwing Interstate with 28k original miles in really good shape. My problem is the Clarion radio is stuck on 108.0 and won't change stations. It plays that station and will switch between am and fm but the station won't change. I read another post about replacing the tuning buttons and I thought I would give it a try. When I took the back off the radio I couldn't figure how to get the tuning knobs off. They are real tight and I didn't know if they had a set screw under the rubber cover or just slip off. I didn't want to pry to hard if there was a screw and tear something up. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Pappy Wilson

Is that a Clarion I or Clarion II radio? Clarion I has the station display on the panel by your left knee, Clarion II has the station display on the top of the fairing.

That would be a Clarion I. Sorry I didn't know there was a difference. I'm new to this. I got lucky and found a nice 81 with just 27K miles on it. Thanks for you help.
