What should did the faring look like new?

Postby scotterichmond » Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:09 am

I would like to see some pictures of what the faring is "supposed" to look like from the factory.
II am looking at the 1981i, and don't know what is factory and what is from the previous owner's ataempt at mods.

Could I see some pics please of a "stock" bike from the riders seat.

Do you mean what does the factory fitted faring look like on the later GL1100? Your bike appears to be a GL1000 which whwre not fitted with a faring by the factory? The photo shows a retro fitted faring as the manufacturers of these farings really caused HONDA to think again and supply the GL1100 with the option of factory fitted faring. The GL1100 and even some GL1200 had the
e option to have no faring factory fitted if required. I have tried to upload a photo of my GL1100 Interstate with the factory fitted faring but it has a retro fitted radio.

Hey thanks for the picture. I have two bikes the one in the picture , you are right about. I was asking about the other one a 1981i and it would seem the previous owner(s) added there own "accessories"
I have a door with a place for cassette tapes where the radio controls should be. The top left flap contains the cassette player.

Interesting - so what do you have on the fairing where the factory fairing mirrors would normally mount?

The faring mirrors on my GL1100 Interstate have been removed by a previous owner and the mounting bolts replaced. The marks were the mirrors had been fitted can be seen if one looks carefully. Perhaps they have been removed due to accident damage or they may have vibrated somewhat????
