Is there a recommended BRAND of tire for my Aspencade?

Subject title kind of says it all.
Are there comments among you that encourage one tire brand over another?

its going to depend on your riding style, I use the Avon Venom X and love them.good in the twisties, wet or dry.two up and pulling a trailer. They run quiet and havent had a cupping issue yet. I am on my third rear and second front since I bought my 82 Aspy. I get 20-25,000 km out of a rear tire at 44psi, twice that mileage for the front.

Others will have thier own preference , Price should never be a determining factor, cheap tires are just that. Cheap. When you look at how much stress there is for a motorcycle tire to withstand you dont want to entrust your life with cheap rubber. Good tire and good brakes can and will save your life. That my 2 cents worth.
Ride safe, Todd

RoadRogue mentioned 'riding style'. Unfortunately, my 'style' is 90 percent out and about town, going back and forth to work and running errands. Lots of too short trips but still happy just to be on the bike in the carpool lanes around the greater Seattle area. Of course, everyone knows that Seattle is synonymous with rain and wet roads. Though, I don't choose to go out in the rain, I often find myself there coming back on wet surfaces.

I second the Avon Venoms - they really are an all-round excellent performing tire, and I have been absolutely thrilled with them since I put them on my bike.

Well, that settles it then. My wife says "Anything with an Avon name has to be good." That's three for Avon and an honorable mention for the other brands.

I'm on my first set of Shinko Tourmasters, was about 120 for the set. Like them so far very sticky.
