As long as it doesn't say "energy conserving" on the label, it should work just fine.

my wing has 70,000 miles on it and had a small oil drip at the bottom so I got some of that oil for cars with high miles it cost more than regular oil but I like it no more oil drip and it shifts fine on prob at all it wont hurt to try and you may like it also good luck

Has anyone any experience using different types of10-40 Oils ? I mean standard, semi synthetic, synthetic types. I find my GL1100 blows some smoke at start up after being left a while using semi synthetic oil and its seems not to smoke when I changed the oil to natural??
(The engine has been fully rebuilf including a rebore, new rings and new engine valves seals)

my 1981 gl1100 also blows smoke at startup especially after sitting a week and when it is colder. my buddy who also has 1 and is a bike mechanic said it is normal. It stops after the choke is dis engaged.
thanks,
jeff

also, the parts guy at rochester motor sports said u beed to be careful using syntetic oil (i mentioned amsoil to him today) and oils with additives because the bike has a wet clutch ( i think). He said you are better off using oil made for motorcycles because of the wet clutch. It's cheaper than amsoil!
thanks,
jeff
