Winterizing

Postby Rocket Rod » Wed Nov 02, 2011 5:29 pm

I purchased a 1983 GL 1100 Interstate recently, rode the hell out of it and hope to get a little more riding in yet this fall. What's my best option to winterize the bike? It will probably sit for at least 5 months!! Thanks for any help.

Have a look through the Winter Storage Guide for some great tips.

Hey, Thanks for the info this is a great site. I do have one more question though. Do you change oil again in the spring after a good warm up? Or run it for the summer?

Thanks Again!

You're SUPPOSED to change the oil in the spring again...but I have to admit that I never do. I just go and ride! :)

I like to put a small amout of 2 stroke oil in the full gas tank ( enough for 1 gallon of 50:1)
then ride it will coat everything with a light coat of oil. and fuel stabilizer.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to ride on Saturday, change oil and put it away on Sunday. We're supposed to get some snow here next week so I'll be getting the Snowmobiles out next!! Thanks again can't wait for spring......I'd rather ride the bike.
