1982 goldwing carbs

Postby jasonf » Mon Nov 21, 2011 10:09 pm

i have a 1982 goldwing looking for steps how to take out and go through carbs? The bike has been sitting since 1994 and carbs are frozen. Got the bike to turn over and have good compression and spark, but none of the carb parts are moving so I need to take them out thanks jason.

thanks for the info. now they are off. has anyone tried cleaning carbs in a lemon/distilled water method? Just wondering how effective that is?

Be careful with carb cleaner they can turn the rubber bits to mush and the 1100 carbs have four cut offs..$24 bucks each and one accelerator pump. Some just boil in water on the stove, then power wash with a water pick...
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
RB

Does anybody know the size of the needle and seat for the gl1100? Looked into buying but Honda wont give you the size? They want people to buy from them and they arent cheap from manufacturer.

I rebuilt my carbs on my 83 gl1100 this summer. I would strongly recommend you buy the carb rebuild kit from Randaks. Now that you have the carbs out you might as well do the complete rebuild, air cut offs and everything. Randaks kit is the best, I know because I skimped out and bought the Sabre Cycle kit, piece of junk! The process is well documented on line and once you strip it down, you will no doubt find other surprises you didn't know about. I used a carb cleaner from Keen Flo. This stuff is super powerful and will eat rubber parts, so be careful, but it cleans everything quickly and completely.
