1981 GL 1100 Headlight replacement and carb issue ?

Postby oreng » Mon Nov 28, 2011 1:07 pm

HI ,
Just got my GL 1100 from US , the headlight is not working but i can't find the way to open it to replace ..
Does the front ring unscrew somehow ? the original fairing is close in the back so i wonder how to do it ..

when starting to drive there is some noise and the engine goes up the RPM with noise till 2,000 RPM and then all good , is it normal ?

Thanks
Oren

noise sounds like you need to synch your carbs.primary chain noise maybe.

Headlight..if in fairing??? you need to take the knob off the back..set screw out and pull off; then unscrew the big nut..then push the headlight assembly out the front.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

It's fairly easy. On the height adjustment knob, on the back side of the fairing, there is a small set screw. Loosen this screw until you can pull the knob off. You'll then see a nut, and two washers that you have to remove. Once those are removed, you can pull the headlight out the front of the fairing.

Thanks , I have managed to take it off and find out that th bulb is ok ..
At the moment i don’t have the book available with the electricity scheme BTW from where you recommended to order the maintenance book ?
There is no switch to turn the headlights on and off so I will be happy to get any suggestions .

Thanks ,
Oren
