Seats from 80-83 are a direct bolt on replacement

http://www.saddlemen.com/store/ These guys have what they call "saddle skins" they are a replacement cover for your seat, or they have a kit that includes new foam and a cover that you put on your stock seat pan, or you can buy a complete seat from them.

Other brand names that offer variations on this theme are
www.corbin.com/
www.mustangseats.com/
www.day-long.com/
www.ultimateseats.ca/

I am sure others will chime in and give you the names of some more, but that should point you in the right direction.
Ride safe, Todd
Over night campers welcome

I bought a Saddleman for my GL 1000. It looks very nice, But is hard as a rock. Good thing it will be just for show, and not long rides.

I just recovered my 80 gl1100 with a skin from saddlemans,It fits well-but either the foam has shrunk slightly,or the skin is a bit to big,as there is some slack to it.It looks fine.
Dont buy directly from them-there shipping is unreal!Find what product # you need, then do a search on amazon-WAY cheaper-saved me allmost $40.Regards,Johnyy

I bought a XL sized gel seat on ebay manufactured by Propad. Absolutely love it....very comfortable and the fit of that gel pad on the honda OEM seat is great.

My wife and I reupholstered the original seat and then added some foam (especially to the front of the seat) to keep me from sliding forward when riding. I then put the gel seat on top of the original foam and stretched the cover right over the top of that. Stapeled it shut and now have a GREAT and comfortable seat.

I will try and get some pictures posted.
