Got the chrome side covers on

Postby binder49 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:12 pm

I had purchased a used set of chrome side covers. Only to find out I also needed mounting hardware. With info from thid forum I was able to get them mounted, Here's a picture. The finishing touch to the new paint and pinstripe

Thanks for the help

Looks nice! I wonder if that will help keep the heat off of you in the summer months?

Could you what you did to mount the right side cover. I have a set of these and was only able to mount the left side one. I saw a reply saying something about using a hose clamp or something to mount the right side one. I put it on and it does not seem to line up with anything.

I used a 1" metal conduit clamp on the lower front bolt to clamp it to the frame. Alittle tough to get the nut on the inside, but it can be done. The rear lower I just bolted it behind the foot peg. The whole job wasn't to bad. The look was worth the work I think. As for wether it will help with heat, I will have to wait a few months to find out.

thanks for getting back with picture, that will help alot when I try to mount it up when I take the cover off in the spring. I still got heat on my left foot with the cover on this year. I think that most of the heat comes from the cyclinder, not the center of the engine. But, I could be wrong.

I have them on both my 84 & 85 aspy they help keep some heat off your legs, but your feet still get warm. But they sure look good on these older bikes. And yours look good on your bike. Hal

I got a pretty good deal. Bought mine at a local bike shop for $20.00. They are in nice shape. Were just missing the hardware
