I rebuilt my heads winter 2008 and what I did was strip all components except guides and had the heads bead blasted along with the valves. Then I lapped the valves (don't grind big no no) using hand held suction cup tool and compound from autozone $10 total.I painted and reassambled. 180psi on compression when all back together. I used Duplicolor high temp aluminium paint pn# 1615. then hit it with duplicolor high temp clear(autozone), did the whole engine as well.
