Its time to change the front tire and thought to ask your opinion as to best options or choice considering what is available. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

I have had very good luck with Avon Venom X tires front and rear. I get 22,000km/17,000miles on a rear and twice that on a front. Air them up to 41 front 44 rear. Nice neutral handling with a light feel, good traction in both wet and dry. quiet running tire for thier entire life,I have had no cupping issues.

I agree - I absolutely LOVE the Avon Venoms on my 1100 - so much so that I have a set sitting in my garage waiting to be put on my 1500 now as well.

Dyna Beads is a great idea. We gave away a multimeter/tire pressure gauge in November 2010. That's another one we should revisit, I guess.

I got on specifically to ask about front tires and found this post. It looks like I'm in the market for an Avon tire. I plan on replacing the front tire and battery before this riding season. I think I broke it in enough last year. I'm ready for a long riding season!! Thanks for all the past help.

Hey Mcgyver How is your bike running these day's by the way? Wingman says the Avons are pretty good tires..

It is running fantastic. I knew I would need a tire and battery. I put all the money I had to get the engine and get it all together last year. The battery is old and goes dead after a couple of weeks of not riding and the tire is old and dry rotted. Is there a certain model of Avon Venom that the Goldwing bikes are good with. I found some on Ebay, but they list them as Harley tires. If the size is right, it shouldn't matter what it says it's for, right? I'm hoping to get some long distant riding in this year. Who knows, we might even get down your way, Little Beaver!
Good to hear from you. You survived the winter so far!!!!

If it says Avon Venom, and in the size for your bike, then that's the one you want.

I love these tires so much I just put a new set on my GL1500, even though the tires (E3's, which I HATED) weren't all that worn. The front tire was very badly cupped, however. New Avons shouldn't have that problem, especially with Dyna-Beads in them.

Are dyna beads something that goes inside the tire? If that's the case, then I can mount it myself.

Yes. Have a look at How to install Dyna Beads in your tires

I mounted my 1100 tires myself by hand, but I sure wouldn't want to do it on my 1500. I ended up using a tire mounting machine for my 1500 tires - there was just no way I was going to do them without damaging the rims.

It looks like I am going to be purchasing some dyna beads also. It doesn't seem to hard to change the tire. I only need to replace the front tire.

OK, I mounted the Avon Venom on the front wheel myself....not to difficult. It was tougher getting the Dynabeads in thru the valve stem. I did it that way because I thought they might escape with that first shot of air if I would have put them in the tire while mounting it. My question is the air pressure. I read an earlier post that said 41 front and 44 in the rear. Is that right? A far cry from the manual specs. Can someone please verify this. Also, just picked up a 83 Aspencade for my brother. Looks like I'll be going through another bike. Going to put some Avons on this one too. I may needs some assistance with this bike. We'll see. Later!

littlebeaver, what's this I see. You in San Antonio now? what? To many tornadoes to deal with in Kansas. How long you been there? I hope you are enjoying it. Take care.
