Oil Pump

Postby Warrensocal » Thu Feb 09, 2012 9:03 am

I'm replacing the water pump on my '84 Aspencade and was thinking I should replace the oil pump as well. I don't see a lot of posts on replacing the oil pump. Do they just not go out or what? Also does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy an oil pump?

Thanks!

Warren

I haven't ever heard of an oil pump "going out." Over time they can go out of spec as the surfaces wear, which means they become less and less effective at moving oil, but that takes a loooong time to happen. Being that they are by definition bathed in oil, they don't have much opportunity for outright failure. In this case, it's a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of thing.

Thanks! One less thing for me to do then.
