Removing front wheel

Postby david4752 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 7:12 pm

I have all unbolted. Do I need to take off the caliper mounting bracket ? And how do I do that? I see an allen headed bolt is that what I have to remove?
TIA

I found where Wing Admin. did his, but my mounting bracket looks different. Mine is a '86 Aspy it has a different looking bracket than the how-to .
Thanks

I just did mine this week. I found it easiest to remove the bracket. The upper (allen head) comes out and the others that take the caliper (hang from string/rope) off. Take care not to lose/mangle the small metal piece that is between the bracket and the caliper. I have the factory tool kit so I have no clue as to the size for the allen bolt.....I can take pics if you need.

Got it off and back together today. Thanks for the advice. The size is a 5/16. Also mine had a different size rotor on the left side with a wear limit of .20 inch I think someone put a standard rotor on my Aspy. Any way back together now and right
Thanks.

Now that you are ( almost ) done.... don't forget to check the gap between the caliper body itself, and the disk ... 28 thou each side, I think .
Adjust by moving the wheel bolts in and out a bit, until it sorta splits the difference...
