SLUGGISH TACH ON 86 INTERSTATE
I have an 86 interstate with tach problems that started about 2 years ago. When cold out, early spring I noticed that the tach would not wind up right away corresponding to the RPM of the bike. Now it is really sluggish. I believe it is being caused by a sticky needle in the gauge itself. Does anyone have experience with this and how do you go about getting to the gauge itself. I have seen some reports of lubing the needle itself, I also have read that it could be loose or corroded electrical connections from the right coil, where the impulse to the tach is originated from. Thank you.

My spedo was like that. After very careful disassemble,I was able to put a few drops of oil on the bushings.Fixed it.Be gentle around the needle.
