Postby sparkyman » Sat Apr 21, 2012 3:57 pm

[*]Hello every one I am trying to remove my engine for several repairs and I am having trouble removing the through rod that runs through the bottom of the engine block. I have tried every thing it is rusted in I have been hitting it quite hard with a sledge hammer and am afraidof cracking the block. It is a 1984 aspencade any ideas. thanks.

Try Aerokroil by Kano Labs or PB Blaster both do a job on rusted parts. PB may be tough on Plastic though. I've seen it eat foam coffee cups.

Thanks for the reply I did try pb blaster but it didn't work I did get the engine out but it was very difficult with the through rod still in the engine. I may try to lay it on its side and spray the rod with pb blaster and see if it will travel down the rod thanks again for the suggestions.

Ive had to use a long rod to get it out as it rusts in there . Start with a short one and go bigger as it works its way out . With kroil which is great stuff and PB give it some time to work but it will come out in the end . I know been there done it .
