1987 vs 1986 Goldwing switch

Postby compint » Sat Apr 21, 2012 9:47 pm

All,

I picked up online a NOS turn signal/light switch that the guy said would work for 86 and 87 Aspencade. When I received it, it looks like mine on my 1987 but when I look at the microswitch area on my bike, I have 3 wires that plug into different areas but the switch that I bought only has places for 2 wires. It looks like it might be the clutch switch wire that may be integrated into mine. Can anyone confirm that this is the case? Hopefully I didn't just waste $100, this is a brand new switch. My turn signal stopped working when pushed to the right.

Thanks in advance.

:D

I'm not sure here. But could it be for one with crusie control? My 86 has a two wire plug at the micro switch for the clutch. But I don't have crusie control.
Also I forgot. Have you tried taking your turn signal switch apart and cleaning the contacts inside?
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

It's possible. M7 87 has Cruise Control. Maybe this switch is for one without cruise. I have not tried to take the switch apart. I will try that to see if that will fix the signal issue. It sounds like I may have a NOS 86 lights/horn switch to unload.

Thanks,

I have pulled my switch apart before. Just go slow keep everything in order. The contacts inside do get dirty. Plus the switch will hang up and not return to neutral when it gets full of gunk. Get a can of electrical cleaner befor starting. Spots that need a little lube go easy. Hope it works for you. You'll see how it works when you pull it apart. I have some pictures in my photos.
