Broken Wing

Postby vBreezo » Sun Apr 29, 2012 7:19 pm

I had a little mishap last Wednesday; turned a 90 degree left turn on a dirt ATV trail into an 88 degree turn. The result is a busted fairing and a dented and bruised leg. I was able to locate a replacement fairing from Rubber City Vintage Cycles in Akron OH but cannot find replacements for the air grill on the right side and above the headlight.

If anyone knows of a M/C salvage dealer who stocks 1985 GoldWing plastic parts, please let me know. The Honda dealer cannot get them as they show as "Not Available - Obsolete Part" in his book.

The right side lower is also damaged but I am thinking of removing both lowers and riding without them. Except for losing the turning lights, what else is in the lowers?

Sorry to hear about your mishap!

I'm sure you've looked already, but in case you haven't....eBay has a steady stream of used parts from people breaking bikes down and selling the parts.

Wingadmin: Yes, E-bay was the first site I went to and I was able to find the exact fairing that I needed. The plastic grills and other trim items are not so easy to find. There are a few sites that include the parts I need in a larger group but I have to buy the entire collection to get the one part I need. It appears that might be the only way to go so I guess I should jump on those before they are gone.
