Auto level switch operation and function 86 SEi

Post by airpane » Sun May 06, 2012 9:16 am

A buddy of mine just bought a 1986 SEi and the suspension pump will run and pump up the rear as it should. But when the handle bar switch is put into the front position and the pump is engaged it only runs for about 1 second and the goes off. The rear pressure says 39 lbs and moves up and down as it is adjusted. The front pressure says 14 lbs and does not change. There is also a auto level swhtch on the left handle bar switches . How does this work. When his is placed in the auto level spot nothing happens. no change in pressure front or rear and no pump running.
Can some one help me figure this out.

The auto switch for the air suspension system should be used when the bike is in neutral, on level ground, kickstand up, with rider, passenger and cargo loaded and the bike running. Flip the auto switch up one time and the system will determine the correct setting for the load. DO NOT flip the switch when the bike is in motion.

To manually adjust the setting, put the bike on the center stand, engine running & in neutral and no-one on the bike. Hold the front/rear switch at the desired position and then press the +/- to get the desired pressure. Max 14psi front / 92 psi rear.

I always use the auto selector and check the pressure before each roll, even if I just stopped for a short time. Unless, I am able to determine that the auto sensor is not setting the suspension correctly, I do not use the manual settings as I have no way of knowing what the ideal distribution should be.
