1986 Aspencade SE-i Service Manual

Postby bravo315 » Sun May 13, 2012 7:53 pm

Hello to all, I'm brand new to this site. I just came into a 1986 Aspencade SE-i and I'm looking to see if any one has a copy of the service manual for this one year only bike. I scored the original owners manual off e-bay. Any help would be great. There is no manual for that bike in the "manuals" section on this site. Thanks Again John

I have a 1985 GL1200 LTD (Limited Edition) which is basically the same bike as the 1986 SEi. The repair manual that i use is the Clymer Honda GL1200 1984-1987 manual which covers all the additional components of the SEi - which is mostly in the electronics modules. The book also has excellent blow-up diagrams of all modules which my mechanic friend tells me is all he needs to tear the bike down and put it back together. I found it on Amazon.com as a used book - new ones do not seem to be available.

We have already replaced the front fairing using this manual - could not have done it without it.

BTW - I have a complete replacement set for the radio & CB including all wiring harnesses, switches, antenna & bracket and speakers. I do not listen to the radio when riding so we pulled all the audio stuff to eliminate weight.

Saber cycle has the regular Clymer gl1200 manual for I think it was 35.00 cdn. Just finished my maintenance for this year and then the Manual arrived . The only thing I have with the manual is the printing could be a little darker but it seems very well put together and user friendly . I'm happy with

Two things:

- I wouldn't buy anything from Saber Cycle, simply on principle. See: http://goldwingdocs.com/Vendors/Saber-Cycle_880

- You'll be much better off buying the actual Honda service manual, than the Clymer manual. It is far more complete and accurate.

Yea well that's your opinion. Everyone is welcome to their own. I,v had good luck with them and won't be told who to deal with by anyone. As an administrator you should respect. Have a good one.

Hey it's his opinion along with the opinion of many hundreds of other people.

I was burned by Saber Cycle, they sold me crappy timing belts that didn't fit. There used to be a Saber Cycle Sucks web site where all the people who got screwed over by them posted their stories, you can still see it here: https://web.archive.org/web/20090505173 ... sucks.com/
