GL1200 Stock Fuel Pump Wanted

Postby Richy » Sun May 20, 2012 8:53 am

Wanted Dead or Alive stock chrome fuel pump, preferably with bracket and connector still in place.
Dead Pump is OK, but prefer working.
I plan to rebuild or use parts to rebuild mine.

I have the Prelude Pump but prefer to go back to stock.

You might give Whitey's Classic Wings a try. I've had a lot of luck with parts rebuilding my 85 LTD thanks to Whitey. He has a a lot of stuff! Good luck with the project.

Have a stock 1200 pump bracket etc. Im pretty sure its a dead pump or the relay was dead. I just wired up a prelude pump without fiddling with it to much. Ill check it out see if its live or dead.

Ehhh if your talking about the electrical connector that clips up right in front of the tank...... I just cut it off to hot wire the pump and see if it was live.

That sounds like the connector I need, is it available?
I'm still looking for a dead stock pump that still has the wires and the connector attached.
I did get a stock used worn pump but it had the wires cut and no connector.
Since I now have two bad stock pumps and the mount bracket bracket and neither has wires and connector, I could use just the wires and connector that are normally attached to the pump.
I really want to rebuild my stock pump but I had to remove the wires and connector from mine to solder to the Prelude pump wires. I'm trying to go back to the stock system and don't like cutting and splicing wires to change pumps.
Might keep Prelude pump for spare

The length of wires is still attached to the pump however I cut the plug off to hot wire the pump to see if it would pump. It will only give one click dry or wet for that matter and quit when it should be running with no pressure build up to stop it. So Im assuming its a dead pump or at least suffering from congestive heart failure
It came off my wifes 84 trike and I replaced with the prelude pump but wired it direct with a blade fuse in line instead of off the fuel relay since the relay seemed to be acting hinky as well.

I assume you are calling the connector "the plug".
I would be interested in buying the plug if you have it and there is enough wire coming out of it to solder new wires on.

If I had the plug I would just let you have it, but when i cut it off i didnt plan on using it again since I normally hardwire any connections on a wing that arent really complicated and that one was just a two wire so I threw it away. Sorry

Richy - I found one with the wires snipped about 6 inches from the pump. Can't find the complete one. I will keep an eye out for it.
