My First (running) Goldwing

Postby Phunnybone » Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:03 pm

Just got her yesterday. Unfortunately she sat for three years and I've got to redo the rear brake caliper to unstick it.

My first was a 1974 project bike that I never had time to do anything with - eventually someone parted it out when I wasn't around :(

If that's the one in the photo....it's a beauty. Did you get it with the trailer?

Got her with the trailer (looks like I may have to do a little work on the trailer lights). She'd been garage-kept by her second owner since an odo reading of 260.

Congrats on the low mileage matching set. Looks nice. You might think about installing LED lights on the trailer for less amp draw on the stock charging system.

Current mileage is just under 50k. Been looking into LEDs, but I haven't figured out (or searched the forum) for the best place to buy them.

Wingadmin have some DIY articles about replacing stock bulbs with LED's. He recommends this place: http://www.superbrightleds.com . I have not checked them out, but I will. I replaced stock rear lights on my trailer with LED's and I like it. Bright and minimal power draw.

She's still an infant. She's not even broken in yet. I'm at 108,000 miles and counting and she runs like a clock. Mine doesn't even smoke or burn oil. Take good care of them and they'll last forever.

I replaced all the lights on my trailer with LEDs this past weekend. I used the superbrightleds place - not because they're necessarily brighter, better or cheaper (they're definitely not cheaper). But you know what you're getting, in terms of quality and reliability, which you can't always say for other fly-by-night or eBay sellers.
