Removal of exhaust and clearance on back tire....

Do you have to remove the back tire to take off the back section of the exhaust on a 1986 Goldwing Aspencade? I would like to pull mine off and check the crossover assembly and see if it's rusted through there. Thanx for the help guys. Oldsdroptop 8-)

Try loosening the header clamps, and try wiggling the muffler assy off the headers- may not work, but you should be able to pull the exhaust syst with the bike on the center stand- might block it up higher with a piece of 2"x12"- I just put my exhaust syst on my 85 aspy with bike on center stand, up on a work table- could have been on the floor too- went on OK- Instead of pulling the syst off- what about a good inspection mirror and strong flashlite? - I'd try that first!
