85 Aspencade SEI

Postby nightair » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:16 am

Hello. My 1985 Aspencade is dumping access fuel into the engine, it is a fuel injected engine. The plugs were fouled and the oil had indications of fuel in it, the motor runs well when the fuel pump is temporarily disconnected but smokes black and runs rough when the pump is re connected. I have ordered the sei supplement but it will take a week or more to get here. Can anyone send me a few pages of the supplement if they have it. Thanks

When you get the specs.look for high fuel pressure on the injectors.possible pressure regulator.or One injector stuck open.

Thank you for the reply. I previously bought two manuals but they didnt have anything on the fuel injection and the proper Honda supplement from Helms will take a while to arrive (Canada). Can you give me the specs for the proper fuel pressure for the regulator. The Honda dealers here dont want to work on anything of this vintage.

The mechanic working on the bike (non dealership) says that both MAP sensors are hooked up and there is fuel returning from the regulator, but the motor chugs black smoke if the pump is running, when he stops the fuel pump it will run smooth (until it runs out of fuel). Does anyone know what the fuel pressure should be at idle or if you have any other suggestions. Thanks

Thank you very much for information and the help, I will peruse this and pass it onto our mechanic. I cant wait to get riding my Aspencade, its a far better comforting ride than my old GS1100 and now I can take one son with me. lol
