Radio Upgrade- Cell Charger

Postby smartin74 » Sat Jun 30, 2012 5:52 pm

I just purchased a 1984 1200 Aspencade. I mean just brought it home 1 hour ago.
The bike has a working radio. Beside getting a cassette adapter, does anyone know what kind of radio I can put on the bike that will allow me to hook up my smartphone via AUX Input so I can stream my Sirius radio? If the mute control works on the bars after that would be a plus, but not really needed.

ALSO-

I would like to install a cigarette lighter so I can charge my cell phone. Any suggestions, ideas, comments, DYI info would be greatly appreciated. I am the 2nd owner on this bike with only 46K miles.

Thanks

The radio controls will only work with the factory unit. I use a belkin adaptor that plugs into my cell phone or mp3 player. It works off the fm and you can tune to any station up and down the fm scale to find the clearest reception. Most people install a cig power adaptor inside the left hand glove box. You can tap power from another circuit or from the battery. Just be sure to put a fuse inline with it.

Forgot to add, I use the belkin tunecast f8m066. Costs between $20 and $30.
