cruise control problems

Postby rwiltz » Sun Jul 15, 2012 10:08 am

The cruise will not engage it shows cruise set but no action. Checked vacuum has plenty reads 12 on vac. gauge, all cables hooked up working properly. Cruise valve is pulling the cables when vacuum is applied. I noticed there is a red led of some kind on the cruise computer box but doesn't light up. All vacuum lines intact and hold vacuum ok no problems there. All switches seem to be working as cruise set light comes on. thanks for any ideas!

Just shooting from the hip here but have you checked the switches brakes and clutch???
Since the cruise is designed so that it shuts off if any of the above is applied, the problem might be in one of those.

I assumed the switches are working as the cruise set light comes on, is there a way to check them like an ohm meter? Still stumped.

Never had to check them on mine but id assume they could be bypassed temporarily like anyt other saftey switch to see. Im sort of like you since the set light comes on it would seem to be something mechanical instead of electrical. But stranger things have happened
