Key Switch

Postby bwanderson » Fri Jul 20, 2012 1:28 pm

I recently bought a 1984 Aspencade 1200, and half the time when the key is turned all the way on i dont get any power. Accessaries position on the key switch works but that is all. I was thinking the switch might need to be cleaned. If so, how do I get the switch out? Any help would be nice. Thanks

There is a recall on the 84 key switches look at the bottom of your switch if it is just a round piece of plastic it is the old style. If you get your vin # and go to a honda dealer have them run it to see if its covered by the recall. The replacement switch will have 3 screws holding the base on it I had the same problem with my 84 aspy. Good luck Hal

Yeah it was the original key switch and it wasnt to bad to get out: a 10mm deepsocket and a long enough extension and it came right out. I just cleaned up the contacts and it is working great.
