stereo upgrade for aspencade

Postby Newfie rider » Sat Jul 21, 2012 9:26 am

I am looking to replace the panasonic radio/casstte player in my 84 aspencade. Would like to upgrade to something with an auxillary jack if possible. anybody out there have any experience with this or is it even possible to change out the stereo at all unless using one built for the slide in mounting ??? Thanks for any and all help .

My 84 interstate was not equipped with any radio at all.
I went to Advance auto and found one radio that was short enough to fit the depth limitation.
A $40 radio and $30 Wal mart speakers and I now have a radio.
Wal mart also had the radio but they bundled it with speakers I couldn't use(too big)
Obviously there are no hand grip controls.
It has aux inputs, usb and sd slot. There's a pair of low level outputs that could be tied to the same connections as the original radio too.Just dog off it's speaker wires.

Nice, Virgil!

Can you tell me what model Dual radio that is? And what did you use for a bezel?

Thanks!

I'll see if I have the box.It was not displayed, just set on the bottom shelf.it's the only one that would fit the depth.the stereo is exactly the same heith as the original.it is about 1/2" narrower so I epoxied a spacer in there.I used the metal mount provided
