84 GL1200 interstate trike kit

Postby Possum51 » Wed Aug 08, 2012 4:05 am

I've done a search on this site and on the web and can't seem to find anyone that builds or has a full trike kit for the GL1200 GW's. I seen them listed for the 1500/1800 and the honda vtx 1300/1800 but nothing on the GL1200???? Any help would be great thanks.

It seems to me it is more about passed time since the 1200 ended production. I do remember trike kits were readily available back when. Many of them were the ones that adds 2 rear wheels, but keeps the original rear as the drive wheel. "add-on" kit (?) .
The 1500 started in 1988, 24 years ago, and kits for this is still beeing made....maybe due to the popularity. I am guessing even the trike kits for this will eventually fade away from production lines.
Best bet for the 1200 would be a used one perhaps....and even as used it is hard to find....or start your own production :) .

I have an 86 1200i with a "Comfort Kruz" trike kit. Still has the rear drive wheel. These trike kits suck big time. The rear suspension consists of a schackel on the right and left which the bike rides up and down like a shock. The travel is only 1-3 inches. If these 2 points aren't kept greased, one or both will freeze and the ride become uncontrollabale.

My local bike shop has 3 of these kits which customers purchased, installed and removed. He can't give them away. Had I only known, I never would have bought this "trike".

Suggest you do a lot of research before getting one of these 2 wheeled death traps.

good luck..
