**** problem on GL1200

Post by aladdin » Wed Aug 08, 2012 5:35 pm

I've just bought a 1987 Aspencade and happily parked it in the basement garage of our house. It has the uber plush seat, kind of a dark brown velvet which is really comfy. A little too comfy it turns out, as our small but hairy grey cat has decided it is the best place for her to sleep, and now is on it night and day. My nice clean bike now has grey feline hairs all over the riders seat. She does not sleep on my wifes pillion seat, just the riders seat and is most annoyed if I move her. You would think Honda would have anticipated this problem and provided an 'anti-**** guard' as a Hondaline accessory, if not as standard with the bike, or at least made the seat a little less comfortable.

Hehehe......Personally , I am very much opposed to an "anti-**** guard"

zamboni, note he isn't interested in keeping the household **** off the pillon seat, only the driver's seat. ;)

Seriously though, I'd suggest a small blanket to cover them both. The cat could still sleep there when parked but the blanket would shield the seat from hairs. I live alone with a little calico and have the same problem except my bed belongs to her and I sleep on the couch. The cloth bedspread gets pretty hairy.

I too have a similar situation. My 1200 is parked in the garage and the cat has adopted the driver seat as 'hers' for sleeping purposes. She especially likes it when I forget to remove the sheepskin. I try to remember to take off the sheepskin and throw her old torn up towel on the seat, which she likes for sleeping on as well.

The reason I don't just run her silly butt out of the garage is, when I first got this bike it had been stored in a barn and the fairing had become home for a nest of mice. Our cat is a great mouser, so I figure while she's being comfortable she might as well be working.....!!

So far we are both pleased with this arrangement
