Polished AL side covers Part 1

Postby WVJefo » Wed Aug 08, 2012 6:58 pm

Of course, The first time you try something new it is just really practice. I figure it will take two more times to get it right. But then I will have the pattern. The right is the mirror of the left and NO Battery there so I start on the right. I am working with metal & don't want to fry everything. Will put insulator on inside of covers & use some type of trim to protect where it touches the frame.

Ideas & opinions from you guys will be nice.

I take bad pics

Looks like that has some potential. Would have liked to see more rounded edges, but it is not all that bad. keep us posted.

I agree, softer edges would be nice, but might be too hard to do. . . . they do look great so far, Keep us posted ! :D

Here is the final product. Worked at making a dup of the originals using AL sheet but that was not to be. So simplified the design.
Polishing raw sheet AL is a total pain. So tried paint. got them close but not prefect. Used a little of that car door guard for the edges. The only bending of the metal is at the top.

The 1200 is on a rebuild now. New wiring, the old was cracking & the connectors were shot. And a Paint job. Just a little extra maintance for the engine

Comments are welcome
