Postby skidplate84 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 11:32 pm

hello everyone, it seems my fuel pump is making an noise first thing in the morning till the bike warms up after a few miles which i thought were my valves but not the case, does anyone have any suggestions on fixing this problem? is the fuel pump repairable or should i replace it?

I did mine.it's a deterorated damper ring inside.a bit tedious to do and kinda tough to separate the coil from the pump.you have to unsolder the switch and remove the coupling link to the piston.
My previous post shows a link to how I did it.

Aside from the ( fiddly) re-build... or replacement with a Ford Fiesta fuel pump

be aware that GL fuel pumps are one of the very common "used" parts available from
someone who parts out GL's...

The local "parting out " guy near me had 11 of them... and he gave a warrenty ... bring it back if its not working...

The price was around $25 to $40... depending mostly on its cleanliness.... a lot less than Mother Honda's new price

Also you should know that Honda made two completely different very small connector plugs for Goldwing fuel pumps
I was repairing a friends fuel pump... and the first one I bought had the " wrong " plug ...
