the regulator is back feeding 12 volts up the black wire.I'll bet a buck that it has a blown fuse.If I remember right, its number 5 and its a 10 amp.

sorry u lost that buck, #5 ing fuse is good, also there is a #5 relay, does that figure in? Idid like u said and removed that reg tried to start it, put some fresh plugs in too. Now remember the first pic i took of the red wires with white stripes, every time i connected them they blew the main fuse. since i took out the reg. i connected them via butt and silicone. Also saw corrosion on other connecters, sprayed electronic cleaner then put on dielectric grease. i figure i better tell you everything i have done so far. The fellow from jersey where i got the bike had an alarm put in, took that out, and the horn was not working so i let tho se wires hang for now.

look at the black/light green that feeds the regulator.it must have 12 volts on it with the key on.its the same wire that feeds the ignition system.when the regulator blows,it usually takes out the 10 amp fuse #5.it should have 12 volts from the ignition switch and it gets its power from the 30 amp main fuse. There is a downloadable PDF for the schematic that applies to your bike.Check it out and let me know what you find.

As far as I can tell from the schematic,relay#5 operates the fuel pump.

There should be 12 volts on the black/lg wire that ran the regulator with the key on.
It's switched ignition and feeds the kill switch and regulator both.

Obviously if there is no volts there, the engine wont have any spark either.

Now if there is no volts on the black/lg wire,it is fused by #5 fuse((maybe #4)).
It's listed as "ignition"
One side of the fuse gets its power from the ignition switch on a black wire.

Just my thought looking at the connections something is crossed when you replaced the regulator. When I've had electrical issues, I've always backed up to where I was when everything was working and retrace each wire one at a time from start to finish and put a piece of tape on it with a mark. Its time consuming, but I usually find the problem. A colored wiring diagram helps if you have one. If not, make a photo copy you can write on and trace it and write on it colors of wires. I also make a larger blow up of the diagram so I can see the wire colors easier. These old eyes don't see as well as they used to!

Yes, something was crossed when previous owners over the years replaced things. Thanks for the input, i am doing as you said, tracing each wire, my old eyes will have to focus for awhile. Blessings, Mark in Orlando.
