Indicator Light?

Postby rjlv25 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 12:22 pm

Hi,
I just purchased an '87 Interstate and was wondering about a red indicator light next to the left upper fairing pocket. It has some type of board in the wiring and I think it was connected to the accessory terminal in the fuse block. I don't find it in any of Honda's online microfiches so I'm puzzled what it does. Thanks.

That's going to be some kind of aftermarket device added by a previous owner. Possibly something like this? http://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/70605

Interesting, since it fits exactly where Honda has a slot in the frame and a hole in the cover. Do you think it's just monitoring the power at the fuse block accy. terminal? Will that 12 volts vary with engine RPM?

The location of your red light is where Honda mounts the plug for the drivers head set when intercom and/or CB is fitted.
My guess is that it is most probably a low voltage warning light, based on the need in these bikes, and the fact that it has a circuit board and an attachment to the main voltage buss.

Thanks. If I ever get a stator that fits, I'll put it back together and see what happens.
