filling up the tank

filling up the tank

ok might seam like a dumb question but how much is to much when filling. when i fill i go till just under the fill opening. am i doing it right

If you can put the cap on without any spilling out, then you're good. :) It won't hurt it by filling "too much".

If you have a California bike with emissions nonsense on it, it could possibly send gas instead of vapor to the charcoal canister if it's REALLY full, but that still won't really harm anything.

Ok good that's what I've always done but was told it was bad to do that. It's how I've always filled my bikes

Along these same lines is it normal to hear pressure release when removing the gas cap? Mine has pressure sometimes.

Yes. There shouldn't be a huge amount, but you will hear it, especially if the tank is low, and temperatures have changed.
