Postby Tcorcoran » Tue Oct 02, 2012 10:13 am

Can you put any type of stop leak in the goldwing motor ? My parts aren't here yet .would like to ride bike to mrytle beach fall fest this week . Also. The oil that leaks from weep hole smells bad of gas. What's up with that ? Thanks Tim

Smell the oil on the dip stick. If it's gasy, you may have a leaking needle valve. It could slowly saturate into a cylinder and then into the crank.
Obviously the weeping is from the water pump.
Please don't use stop leak.It isn't the same as pixi dust.
Personally,if you gotta ride...change the oil and ride.....live with the smell and keep a eye on the oil level.
Fix it ASAP.and do turn off the gas when you quit for the day.

I believe if you smell gas on the dipstick you already have gas in the oil so its on the crank. If there's gas in the oil it will eventually turn the oil to a milky color. PERSONALLY, I would find out just how bad the leak is, if it is in fact in the oil and how much. I've seen rings washed out from gas in the oil then you have a MAJOR rebuild. Two pennies.
