Rear Brake Caliper back plate assembly

Postby Albert Luce » Sat May 23, 2009 9:55 pm

I have a 1985 Gold Wing 1200 where we have rebuilt the rear brakes. After reinstalling brake caliper on the back plate, the plate is mounted on the main wheel shaft and held by the shock main bolt However, there is a slight slack on the plate. Did i forger to insert a rubber bushing in the hole of the back plate where the shock main bolt is.

I don't know about the 1200's, but if you download the parts manual for it (click on the link at the top of the screen) it has an exploded diagram that will show you all the different parts. That should help you out.

The caliper bracket faces up to the bracket that the shock lower slides into then a nut goes onto the Allen bolt,

There is no spacer there

File to big for the pic I had, but I have a slight space that you may be able to stick 2 dimes in on my 86 Asp.

I hope that's thickness rather than diameter

I wonder if the caliper plate has been warped a little.

If the picture is too big, upload it into your "Member Pictures" area, and then you can link to it directly from there.
