Stator wiring Harness- parts ?

Post by SilverDave » Mon Nov 05, 2012 2:57 pm

Electrical connections has had available for years a wiring harness for the GL1200: at $49 ... plus $20 shipping ... charge.htm

As I recall mine it had the usual stator wires, most wires for the rect reg, a relay to turn off the coils , 2 healthy fuses, strong crimped connectors, and separate wires to the coils ... but I just installed it, I did not create a circuit diagram for it.

An electrical friend wants to " Make his own" the $20 shipping gets him, I guess.

Has anyone ever created a diagram, and a shopping list to fabricate your own wiring harness for the GL1200 ??

The only thing on my shopping list was a relay and 2 fuse holders. One 5 amp and a heavy duty 30 amp

I had the heat shrink tubing, solder and solder gun.
I used the existing wiring as it is suitable.
The problems occurs in corroded crimp connections and corroded plug connections.
I idle at 900 rpm and show 14.1 volts on the battery. It maxes out at 14.4 volts.
Full load...brake lights and high beam at a idle will drop the voltage to 13.8.
