I just joined Goldwingdocs.
I purchased a 1985 Gold Wing Aspencade about two years ago. It is in great condition.
Last spring, the battery was low, and I made the dumb decision to charge it, in the bike...bad decision. The positive cable fell off the charger, and of course shorted out on the seat bracket, blowing up the starter relay switch. I finally found one, and replaced the switch. That seemed to work, as the bike started, but then I noticed the dash lights were not working. I have had quite a bit of the faring, seats, etc off the bike, trying to see what might be causing that. Over the winter, something has been shorted out, and has completely killed a brand new battery I bought last spring.
I don't want to buy a new batter(kinda expensive) and then
have it go dead also.
Have you had any experience with this kind of problem? If so, what do I do now, to try and cure it?
I would appreciate any help you may be able to render. I really love this bike, and want to make it right again. Lots of life left in the old gal....
