Fuel trickling out

Postby Possum51 » Sat Feb 16, 2013 9:45 am

I noticed that when I tried to start my wing yesterday that it didn't wont to stay running. After troubleshooting for a bit I noticed that the fuel was barely getting into the see throu filter, I made sure the selector valve was in the correct position, and It has a half tank of fuel. I've looked and I haven't noticed any rust or other gunk inside the tank, but it did sit for 6 months while I healed up from back surgery, I made sure I put stabil in the tank with the fuel. Is there a filter inside the tank on the pickup tube that maybe be glogged?

As I recall, the pickup tube has a microscreen on it.

Yeah I think there is too, I've been inside a GW tank before, but that was many years ago. I couldn't remember for sure. Thanks

Turn off the stopcock....then try disconnecting the hose just above the fuel filter, take a deep breath, open the stopcock, and blow air up into the tank ...
Agh ! ( gag, spit, swear , spit again )

If any crud is blocking the filter , it will get mixed back into the gas for awhile.

If that works, you know its crud, and you can then add about 1/4 gallon of gas , over and over, and siphon out the tank, after sloshing it around
That might get most of it out of there it.

(or.... much more work ... remove the tank ... ( hard work ) and clean it out ...

:)

Well, warm enough to get out and fix the fuel issue, turns out I must have had a brain fart when I installed the new inline fuel filter. I got a clear see through filter(plastic), and I tightened the hose too tight and it was squeezing the filter closed......  :o
