cant win for losing...

Postby binforgiven2 » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:22 pm

i just put new plugs in my bike today because it had loss of power and would not idle. After i changed the plugs and fired it up it sounded great and even idled, but after idling for like five minutes it started running bad and losing power again and had white smoke coming out of the exhaust, and backfired when i would crack the throttle.my fuel system light is still on.

What were your old plugs like, were one or more of them wet, contaminated with oil or showing signs of rust?
Dry/bleached looking you could have an air leak on the induction.
Signs of rust could be start of head gasket problems.
Wet = leads (wires?), ignition coil, flooding carb
Oily = Oh dear, rings, valve guide seals etc

Are you using oil/coolant.

Just a few thoughts

I put seafoam in my gas today and it is running much better. It cuts out a little if you twist the throttle fast from idle but im hoping the fuel filter i ordered takes care of that.Thank you very much for your reply.
