front tire

replaced rear tire now need to replace front tire on 85 goldwing . never had front tire off , owners man. said something about using a feeler gauge when installing tire , not sure what they meen, can anyone help me out.

It's 7-8mm between the inside edge of the caliper and the rotor. If you don't have that clearance you can ruin your rotor.
Enjoy the ride. They are all good, just some better than others.

so once its all together i should spin the tire to see if it spins free. if so all is good?

When you get it all together and spin the wheel, you will see where the caliper comes close to the rotor. Back side top. If it's to close you have to loosen the pinch bolt on the axel and push the fork in or out just enough to give you the clearance. The shop manuals show a photo of what I'm talking about.
