fuel pump cut relay location?

Postby dualsport » Tue Mar 05, 2013 3:52 pm

I'm glad I found this forum, I can't find my fuel pump cut relay on a '87 GW Aspencade. My Clymers has a picture but it doesn't match what I have. I think the 87s are different than the previous 1200s. My fuel pump stopped pumping, checked all the fuses. Pulled the pump and wired it to a 12 volt battery and it clicks making me think the pump is ok. That leaves the cut relay? Any help would be appreciated. I've had my GW about 8 years and this is the first malfunction.

I know on my 84 & 85 the pump does not come on until the motor is running. Have you checked to see if pump is getting voltage when motor is running and also checked to see if it is pumping fuel thru it,as it may be clicking but not pumping fuel ? What about the fuel filter what shape is it in ? Just some things to check out, just my 2cents------------------------------Hal

Thanks for the reply Hal. Turned out it was the fuel pump. Found a used one from an '85 that got her going again.
