87 Interstate Speaker Mounting Question

Postby rjlv25 » Fri Mar 29, 2013 5:29 pm

I just purchased some Polk DB401 speakers to replace what the PO stuck in there. I think he used an old extension cord for speaker wire. The inner two mounting screws have special nuts with a hub that points forward to take up the gap between the sheet metal and the instrument bezel. The outer 2 screws have just a clip on nut that takes sheet metal screws. Should each speaker have 4 of those nuts and machine screws? I see no spacer like the parts diagram shows. Is this the way they all are mounted? Some screws have slotted heads and some Phillips heads. And of course I dropped one of those special nuts and it's nowhere to be found.

Also, does anyone know where I can find those 1/8 female spade terminals to wire the speakers? Everything around here is 1/4.
