My speedo makes a hell of a racket when you go over 40 kms/hr...my local Honda mechanic nailed it right away as soon as I told him about the noise. I went home and took off the speedo cable from the front wheel and using a cordless drill...spun up the speedometer and as soon as it went over 40 it made a racket. He says to replace the head with another, but my thought is...if mine is making a racket...what will stop others from doing the same thing when I install another one?? It is a new speedo cable at the end of last year, so that's not it...

Before you go an do any replacements, take the cable and try oiling it up some. My '81 was making the same kind of noise after I got a new cable about 2 months after putting it on. I was then told that the new cable comes unoiled. I find that this is hard to believe, the oiling stopped the nose for me.
