Gear Indicator Switch

Does anyone know of a source for the change, switch 35759-MG9-671 for the GL1200? I would like a new one. That is a lot of work to install a used switch with an unknown life spam.

I checked HondaDirectLine Parts.com and it comes up with pt# not found. You didn't state what was wrong with yours(missing gears),but sometimes an engine flush will cure them. All it is is a switch that grounds a different circuit(to the engine block) when a different gear is selected. If a flush doesn't cure it you could take it out and try to flush it(gotta come out anyways). It or the used one if you purchase could be bench tested with a multi-meter before reinstalling.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

It seems to be shorted internally. It doesn't mater what gear you are in the display will change from neutral to OD to blank.

How do YOU "flush" an engine

You can try flushing by using half a can of Seafoam in the oil and riding for a hundred miles or so, but honestly, if it does fix the problem, it will do so only temporarily. If the switch is still in functional condition, you really need to pull it and clean it manually before reinserting. The problem is that carbon buildup on the switch shorts it out (carbon is conductive).

I think I'll keep looking for a while. There is bound to be a new one out there somewhere.

which 1200?

My 1984 Interstate only has indicators for Neutral and OD. There are no other indicators for which gear.
I believe the Standard and Interstate are the same.

Thant would be correct. But I think a Aspencade Switch would work in a n Interstate or standard.

except the Main Wire Harness may be different.
I know an 84 Interstate only has 3 wires coming out of the shift sensor/position indicator.
Fitting the Aspencade switch would mean a plug change?

Plugs are the same. Just a different number of wires.
