Neutral light

Postby rraymond » Mon Apr 01, 2013 4:58 pm

Hello,

I'm a new owner of my first Goldwing interstate 1984. My neutral green light dosen't work. I believe that the bulb are broken. Does it easy to replace it and do you have a part number of this bulb?

Any other suggest about this problem?

Thanks
Richard

hello, when I bought my 85 LTD I had quite a few electrical issues with it as well, including the neutral light not working.
another Goldwing owner recommended I get a can Nu-trol contact cleaner (safe on plastics) and cleaned all electrical contact plugs.
I took the time to do that and my neutral light has worked ever since.

I would recommend that you try that first before you dig into the dash.
I do have a list of part numbers in my manual and I can find that if you need it.

good luck and happy riding.
Johan

Thanks firstwing85.

I'm waiting about my new Haynes manual to try that, and I'm waiting so a better temperature because at Quebec, actually is arround to 15 F. It's very cold to remove my fairing.

Thanks for your reply.

Today, I received my Haynes manual and I remove the fairing and some parts like a mirror. I removed the dash and the neutral socket build. I use a contact cleaner to remove dust and clean the socket. I replace the same bulb and good news, the neutral bulb was not broken and my neutral green indicator works well.

Thanks for your help firstwing85.

Next step, my suspension.

My 86 interstate has an intermittent light. Works sometimes and sometimes not. I know it's not just the bulb because when it doesn't light up it doesn't start unless you pull in the clutch lever.
