Anyone used these??

Postby PaulSR » Thu May 16, 2013 1:28 am

I need new shocks (or just springs??) on my GL1200.
Has anyone used these?? http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspe ... automotive

I need the ride height as I an 6'4 and ride 2 up all the time, so I need the height, I set the air ride to about 40 PSI and still bottom out from time to time.
Money is a VERY tight right now.

Or, could i add these: http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspe ... automotive
and improve the ride and not bottom out??

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Paul

My83 gl1100 suffered from a hard ride and bottoming out with 2 up and 50 psi.
I replaced the air shocks with progressive spring over adjustable ones....
Huge difference...it sat a bit taller, ride improved and no bottoming out....Best thing I did...
The ones I used came from a "spare"bike I purchased.
Mine were older styled and looked like this....

Others are available.

not now,I sold the bike but as I recall they might have been 1/2" longer than stock.
they didn't sag as much as the air ones and were load height adjustable.
